Our inspirational, supportive and dynamic educators, staff, parents and directorate, provide positive and personal attention to each learner through a well-balanced holistic education within a friendly, pastoral environment.

We invite you to visit our beautiful campuses and to experience the ambience that makes this private school in Cape Town, such a special place for scholars, staff, parents and the community.

CELEBRATING MPS!

For the past 18 years, MPS has been dedicated to sculpting not just students, but passionate individuals who we raise and release into the world as #Changemakers.
The MPS journey began in earnest when a group of visionary educators set out to create a place where learning extended beyond textbooks and examinations. The ethos was simple yet profound – to foster holistic development, instill unwavering Chrisitan values, and ignite a flame of creativity in each young mind that graced their classrooms.  We look forward to many more years of raising and releasing MPS #Changemakers to make a real impact on the world!

In celebration of our school’s 18th birthday recently, our learners helped us “illustrate” our milestone by creating the number 18 on our field.

We put Jesus Christ first

We treat others like we would like to be treated ourselves

We are on a mission to deliver:

  • Personal Attention
  • Excellent Education
  • Christian Legacy
  • Unique Environment

SCHOOL EMBLEM

Our School Emblem was designed to encapsulate the following key elements which make us a unique private school in Cape Town:

  • Table Mountain
  • The Ocean
  • A Harvest
  • The Cross

Each also represents a key aspect of our school song.

MELKBOSSTRAND PRIVATE SCHOOL SONG

We are very proud of our school song.

The music and lyrics were written by the dynamic duo of Mr. Wikus van Zyl and Mrs. Colet van Zyl who headed up our Performing and Creative Arts Faculty until the end of 2020.

The Song has its origin in our very unique setting as a private school in Cape Town’s beautiful country side and also has its roots in our school emblem, and speaks of our Christian Values as a school.

We are Melkbosstrand Private School

Anchored in Jesus Christ our Rock

Like Table Mountain visible and bold

We’re South Africans steadfast and proud

Our land will yield a harvest

And fruitful it will grow

As we are building hand-in-hand

Next to the shore of sea and sand

Ons dra die toekoms in ons hand

Word ryk van siel en gees

Doelgerig, met harde werk

Maak ons vir die lewe sterk

Soos die balans in die natuur

Akademie, Sport, Kuns en Kultuur

Op stormsee of vasteland

Bly ons gelowig in Sy hand

OUR MASCOTS

In 2019 MPS held a competition for our learners to submit a concept/design for a school Mascot. We received so many clever and creative entries from Grade 1 through to Grade 12 but there was one clear winner as this concept truly respresents the motto (Psalm 23) and values of MPS:

Christ-centredness, Courage, Respect, Integrity, Innovation and Quality work.

Luke Palm of the 2019 Grade 11E class submitted not only an amazing concept, but also excellent hand drawn designs. Luke explains his concept:

“I chose to do a Lion and Lamb for my Mascot Design as they are both biblical animals.”

The Lion is designed to be the High School’s Mascot, and the Lamb for the Primary School. Using the school’s blue and yellow colours, both are wearing elements of the Armour of God consisting of:

  • Breastplate of Righteousness
  • Belt of Truth
  • Helmet of Salvation
  • Shoes of the Gospel
  • Sword of the Spirit
  • Shield of Faith

We are very proud of our Mascots!

PARENT SUPPORT COMMITTEES

The Faculty Heads through the Parent Support Committees (PSC’s) are able to provide parents with information regarding all aspects of school life. MPS actively encourages parents to join and participate in one of the various PSC’s.

These PSC`s are focussed on offering support to a specific faculty and therefore involve parents of that faculty only. The focus of the PSC is unique to that faculty and all intended initiatives must be discussed with the specific Faculty Head who will make sure that the specific request or initiatives are in accordance with the broader operational and financial policies and objectives of the school.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE BOARD

In serving as the keepers of an organisation’s mission and as its fiduciaries, the board’s role is to:

  • Establish policies and plans consistent with the organisation’s mission;
  • Ensure that the executive management implements the strategy as established from time to time;
  • Ensure that the organisation operates ethically;
  • Ensure that the organisation has adequate systems of internal and external control, both operational and financial
