Registration

Have you considered whether the prospective school you are looking at for your child is registered?

“It is strongly recommended that prospective parents ensure that the institution/pre-primary and, or playgroup that they are entrusting their toddler to is formally registered with the Western Cape Education Department as there are too many fly-by-night institutions including pre-primary schools and, or playgroups  who promise excellence but never deliver on their promises,” says Mr Oloff Dreyer, CEO of MPS.

Melkbosstrand Pre-Primary better known as Noah’s Ark  with Registration reference number 13/1/4/H 2021,  is a fully registered independent Pre-Primary school  in terms of sections 12 and 30 of the Western Cape School Education Act, 1997. Therefore, any prospective parent can rest assured that their child will be in the best possible hands to prepare them for their future school career at a registered institution.

Learning environment

Learning goes beyond the four walls of a classroom at MPS’ Noah’s Ark Pre-Primary. Our unique setting, on a beautiful farm just outside Melkbosstrand, Cape Town, offers our young learners something truly special – the chance to grow, discover, and thrive in a natural, outdoor environment where play and exploration, together with our Christian Values, form the foundation of learning.

Many children are growing up surrounded by technology and concrete with hours spent indoors in front of a screen. At Noah’s Ark, we do things differently and our little learners have plenty of opportunity to get their hands dirty, their feet muddy, and their imaginations soaring. Here, learning through play isn’t just a philosophy — it’s the way we do things in our daily classroom routine.

The Power of Play

Research shows that young children learn best through play, and even more so when that play happens outdoors. Being based on a farm gives our children the daily opportunity to engage with the natural world in ways that foster deep curiosity, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills. Whether they are feeding animals, planting seeds, building forts, or simply chasing butterflies, every moment at Noah’s Ark is filled with rich, hands-on learning experiences.

“These early experiences in nature are not just joyful; they are vital to a child’s development,” says Mrs. Antoinette Gauche, Head of the ECD and Foundation Phases at Melkbosstrand Private School. “When children explore and play freely in a safe outdoor space, they develop the confidence, resilience, and creativity that form the foundation for future learning.”

These activities aren’t just fun; they lay the groundwork for important cognitive and emotional skills. When a child solves the problem of how to build a dam in the mud or figures out how to climb a tree, they are developing critical thinking abilities, perseverance, and confidence.

A Natural Boost to Emotional Well-Being

The calming effect of nature on young children is well documented. At Noah’s Ark, the open fields, fresh air, and friendly farm animals create a soothing environment where children feel safe, happy, and free to express themselves. Regular outdoor play helps to reduce stress, build resilience, and promote overall emotional well-being.

Through outdoor play, children also learn valuable social skills.  Activities such as building projects, negotiating during play, and caring for the environment and animals all involve interaction and collaboration with others. These interactions help build empathy, teamwork, and a strong sense of responsibility.

“Our farm environment gives children the freedom to be themselves,” Mrs. Gauche explains. “It nurtures emotional well-being and allows children to learn important life lessons naturally such as lessons in kindness, patience, and respect for God’s creation and all living things.”

Curiosity and a Love for Learning

One of the greatest gifts we can give children is a love for learning. At Noah’s Ark, we nurture that love by creating endless opportunities for discovery. Nature provides the best classroom — one that is ever-changing, full of wonder, and endlessly fascinating.

When a child watches a caterpillar transform into a butterfly or witnesses seeds they planted sprouting into green shoots, they experience first-hand the magic of life and the thrill of discovery. This kind of learning naturally fosters a sense of curiosity and wonder, essential ingredients for lifelong learning.

Why Noah’s Ark?

“Our farm-based setting is not just beautiful — it’s intentional.” says Antoinette.

“We believe that the best early childhood education combines strong academic foundations with plenty of time to explore, imagine, and play.”

“ We are fully registered as an Independent Pre Primary school  with the WCED “

Our dedicated teachers gently guide children’s natural curiosity into meaningful learning experiences that prepare them for the future while allowing them to be children today.
