Melkbosstrand Private School (MPS) has once again proven its commitment to consistent academic excellence, with remarkable Matric 2023 results. The 2023 group of matric students added to the school’s long standing record of academic excellence and also made school history!

Our Tradition of Excellence

For years the name MPS has been synonymous with academic excellence and the school is incredibly proud of its record of having 100% matric pass rate for the past 13 consecutive years!. The class of 2023 has upheld this tradition admirably, showcasing remarkable achievements in various subjects and earning accolades for their commitment to academic success.

The 2023 matric group made MPS’ history with 100% Bachelor’s pass rate – a first for the school and ‘one for the MPS history books’!

“We are incredibly proud of the group with each of them attaining a bachelor’s pass and of our record of 100% matric pass rate for the 13th consecutive year,” says Mr Allan Norton, Head of Intermediate, Senior & FET phase, “these results reflect the school’s unwavering dedication to fostering a culture of learning and achievement.”

Notable Achievements

MPS is proud of the fact that, for the 13th year in a row, we are the only school in the Metro North Education District (MNED) to have achieved a 100% pass rate and are the only school in this district to have achieved Bachelor’s passes for all its learners! The 2023 matric results include an impressive 31 distinctions.

Furthermore it is worth mentioning that 50% of all our 2023 candidates achieved an aggregate of more than 70%.

How do we do it?

Our learners and staff are able to maintain the school’s reputation for Academic Excellence, thanks to a combination of a number of factors. At the very top of this list is

our Christian values which is the foundation of our success. This is embodied in our school’s motto of Ps. 23:1 – “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want…”

Next is the incredible school environment our learners get to enjoy every day and which plays a fundamental role in making MPS what it is.

“We stand out from the rest with classrooms and playgrounds set in an incredibly beautiful, peaceful farm setting, far removed from the stress, hustle and bustle that comes with ‘normal’ school days,” says Mrs Antoinette Gauche, head of ECD and Foundation phases.

We are proudly one of the best private schools in the Western Cape and our small classes afford us the opportunity to give our learners only the best when it comes to personal attention.

Then we have our unwavering focus on academic excellence and providing Innovative Learning Methodologies in order to provide quality, “High Touch Education” in our very High Tech world of today, which will remain a key focus of MPS.

“We are confident that this focus will allow us to continue to enjoy our unbroken record of 100% matric pass rate. We know that at MPS we are able to lay a foundation for our students to believe in themselves and their ability to positively affect the world around them,” says Mr Norton.

We also incorporate and apply the innovative Keller learning methodologies which foster “Active Reading, Critical Thinking and Creative Citizens”.

These methodologies are implemented throughout the phases at MPS, creating a thread of consistency which runs from the Noah’s Ark through the Primary School and throughout High School to our learner’s final year in matric – it is this thread which ties it all together that creates a near seamless transition from phases to phase along the child’s journey at MPS.

The Role of our Dedicated Teachers

Behind every successful student, there is a team of dedicated and passionate educators. MPS’ teachers have played a pivotal role in shaping the academic journey of the class of 2023. Their tireless efforts, innovative teaching methods, and commitment to nurturing each student’s unique strengths have undoubtedly contributed to the school’s consistent record of excellence.

Our curriculum

At MPS we have phased out the CAPS curriculum and are excited to be moving ‘full steam ahead’ with the IEB curriculum and 2024 will see our first group of matric learners writing the IEB exam. MPS #Changemakers enjoy the benefits of the IEB national senior certificate (NSC) which is an internationally benchmarked qualification and is quality assured by Umalusi (the council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education). MPS was awarded Umalusi accreditation in 2018 and are proud to have consistently met the quality and assurance standards of each of the criteria for accreditation.

Looking Ahead

As Melkbosstrand Private School celebrates the achievements of the matric class of 2023, the focus shifts to the future. The school remains committed to providing a nurturing environment that empowers students to continue pursuing excellence in higher education and beyond. The accomplishments of this year’s matriculants serve as both a source of pride and inspiration for future generations of MPS #Changemakers.
